Salt Lake Animal Advocacy Movement (SLAAM) is a group of activists from Salt Lake City, Utah and surrounding cities working together to achieve total animal liberation.

Our current campaigns include:

Foie Gras
An overpriced French "delicacy" which comes from the force feeding of geese and ducks. The geese and ducks are kept in tiny cages, a pipe is forced down their throats, and up to four pounds of grains and fatty oils are pumped into them each day. Many local restaurants have been persuaded to stop serving foie gras by being educated on the methods in which foie gras is made. We are working on getting legislation passed to make SLC a foie gras free city.

Fur
The fur industry is on its way out, we have been helping educate people on the cruelty of the industry and that fur torture is NOT attractive. Fur animals continue to be murdered by using methods such as anal electrocution, suffocation, and crushing. There are plenty of alternatives to wearing fur that do not involve torture.

University of Utah vivisection
Vivisection is the dissection of living animals. It has not proven to result in any scientific advancements and there are plenty of other alternatives to this practice, yet the U of U continues to facilitate these studies. As of late, animal rights activists have requested and been denied access to the records of these studies. Public funding is used, therefore these records should be accessible by the public. We continue to speak up and educate people on the mad science that is being practiced, which only results in millions of dollars in grant funding and no relevant conclusions.
